THE founder of Bomvana Youth Development, Lukhanyo Keti, confirmed that he would be hosting film workshops across the Eastern Cape in June 2025. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that he decided to organise these workshops after noticing the growing interest among young people in this field, although many lack the necessary knowledge.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keti explained that the main focus of the workshops would be to bring unforgettable characters to life, develop comedy skills, improve performance abilities, learn the art of theatre, dance, and magic, overcome stage fright, build confidence, and learn scriptwriting and improvisation.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised that he aims to share the knowledge he gained in Johannesburg and further educate the participants, especially those in Grade 12.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“They need to understand all aspects of this industry, not just acting. Filmmaking is vast, and they need to know what specific area they want to pursue. That’s why it’s important to equip them with the right skills,” said Keti.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that some of the young people had approached him several times for assistance, but he had been unable to respond until now. He has now made the decision to take action.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keti will begin the workshops in the King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality and will later move to Buffalo City Municipality (BCM).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“To ensure the success of this initiative, I will be working with Eric Sipola Ndlovu, Lebohang Mgidi (Linda) from Scandal, Sifundo Dladla from Gomora, Smoke and Mirrors, director, producer, and actor Gcina Mdikane, and award-winning producer Odwa Kolwane.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also mentioned that there are other actors who have not yet been named but will collaborate on theatre and screen acting.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Keti, the tour will take place between June and September 2025, during the school holidays.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I believe these masterclasses will shape the lives of young people in the Eastern Cape. We are also seeking potential sponsors to support this initiative and ensure its success.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that he continues his programme of assisting learners by helping them apply to tertiary institutions and providing them with prospectus books to help them choose their career paths.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have seen the pain of learners dropping out of school every day. Some are turning to drugs and alcohol. We decided to take action to help those who are interested in furthering their studies.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
