{"id":51573,"date":"2021-07-15T11:18:28","date_gmt":"2021-07-15T09:18:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/up-and-coming-scientists-empowered-20210713\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T17:33:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T15:33:18","slug":"up-and-coming-scientists-empowered-20210713","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/up-and-coming-scientists-empowered-20210713\/","title":{"rendered":"Up-and-coming scientists empowered"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Wild Coast Sun, in partnership with local shareholder, Wild Coast Sun Mbizana Development Trust, has donated physical science and life science kits to 10 high schools in the Alfred Nzo East district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows on from a previous donation in 2018, in which 10 kits were donated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The kits included items such as models of the heart and ear, dust coats and microscopes, as well as first aid training kits and anatomical skeletons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wild Coast Sun Mbizana Development Trust chairperson, Griffiths Memela, said that the kits will assist educators in performing live experiments for the learners instead of just explaining from the textbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to be making this donation as part of our socio-economic development spending, to address a shortage of learning equipment, especially in the science field. The kits will also assist in familiarising scholars with science apparatus, so that they are not overwhelmed when they reach tertiary level,\u201d said Memela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing gratitude on behalf of the district, Alfred Nzo East district director, Albert Mpupu, said that the noble donation from Wild Coast Sun and its partners was greatly appreciated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe first phase of donations in 2018 has produced outstanding Grade 12 science results with one of the beneficiary schools escalating to the top five schools in the province. We have no doubt that this corporate investment, made by Wild Coast Sun, will again reap similar, if not better, results for the 2020 academic year,\u201d said Mpupu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6
