Amathole District Municipality (ADM) is embarking on a debt-reduction payment scheme to encourage residents and businesses to pay for municipal services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a council meeting held on April 30, 2021, a resolution to provide an incentive framework was adopted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The debt-reduction scheme will benefit customers who have accumulated debt which falls in the \u201890 days and over category, and are struggling to pay their bills. However, government departments, parastatals and municipalities are excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scheme is running for four months from July 1 until October 31 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residential consumers, commercial, agriculture, NPOs and churches must approach ADM to make a payment agreement between a 60% cash settlement, or 50% over three months\u2019 instalment of their principal debt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality strongly urges all residents and consumers to take advantage of this offer before it closes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All qualifying participants to the scheme are encouraged to manage their accounts by ensuring prompt, timeout payments of municipal services rendered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Should you not take advantage of the scheme, kindly take note that effective from November 1, a zero-tolerance campaign against all consumers who are in arrears for service-related charges will result in strict credit control enforcement, and rigorous debt collection by-laws will culminate in the termination of services, with legal action being instituted for the recovery of all outstanding arrears.
