YOUTH from the Gqunu Farms location in the Qumbu are on a mission to improve their area by launching the Gqunu Farms Co-operatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They started this project with the aim of changing the bad image of the town and to create jobs. This project consists of 29 members, including many young people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was confirmed by one of the organisers of the project, Thandiwe Tutu, who said they had started it in 2012 but they failed because they did not have proper land. She said they decided to start it again this month, with the aim of fulfilling their dream. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are unemployed so by doing this we are trying to do something that would create job opportunities for us and other people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt the moment, we are negotiating with one of the traditional leaders so that we could get the land,\u201d said Tutu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that their intentions were to build lodges and parking areas, but they also wanted to clean their town so that they could attract more tourists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said they wanted to show people that even though their area had a bad stigma, they could change that and bring positive things to their area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe know that our area is known as one of the places that has a high rate of stock theft and other bad things, and we want to change that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople should know that we are also willing to change this stigma.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
