The Eastern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance and
\nTraditional Affairs (COGTA) has appointed Mawethu Pinyana as acting Municipal
\nManager of Ingquza Hill Local Municipality recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement issued by COGTA spokesperson, Mamkeli Ngam, Pinyana has been
\nseconded to the position, following a request made by the municipal council to the
\nDepartment to second someone who would act until a Municipal Manager has been appointed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pinyana, a COGTA District Director for Alfred Nzo
\nDistrict, would act until a Municipal Manager is appointed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
COGTA MEC, Xolile Nqatha, described Pinyana as an experienced
\npublic servant who has worked as a Municipal Manager in Ntabankulu Local
\nMunicipality from 2002 to 2007. He said he had also worked as Intergovernmental
\nRelations manager (IGR) in the office of the Eastern Cape Premier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe is currently
\na Senior Manager responsible for the Alfred Nzo District Support Centre where
\nhe is supporting all the municipalities of Alfred Nzo District. He holds a
\nmaster\u2019s degree in Public Administration,\u201d said Ngam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of Pinyana\u2019s many responsibilities as an Acting
\nMunicipal Manager is to facilitate the appointment by Council of a competent
\nMunicipal Manager who has integrity. I am using the words competent and integrity because most of the challenges experienced by our municipalities
\nrevolve around competent leadership both political and administrative. Your
\nsupport and working together as the Troika and Pinyana is going to make this
\nMunicipality achieve the objectives of seconding him here,\u201d said Nqatha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While he would be accountable to Council, he would also
\nprovide the department with reports on the period he is acting at the
\nmunicipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
