Athletes roads are leading to the finishing point of the 400km Icon\u2019s Journey Marathon in Mvezo this coming Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eight-day historic run commenced last Saturday and consists of more than 15 social runners from seven provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the other runners are running the physical course, well-known spot runner, Ramaano Thifhelimbilu Kenneth, is aiming at completing the 400km distance by running on one spot, just outside the Nelson Mandela Museum in Mthatha. On Saturday, July 31, he began his journey around 10:00 and finished in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Saturday, Kenneth ran only 42km, then on Sunday he ran 50km within five hours and 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The spot runner was joined on the day by local athlete, Zameka Balasana, from Cheaters Athletes Club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kenneth said he his target was to run 50km each day, leading up to Saturday\u2019s finish of the ultramarathon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has been doing spot running for more than a year, having started it immediately after the implementation of lockdown last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since then, he has already run more than 3 000km and now is aiming at completing the 400km race by Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI love doing this spot running and people are joining me every day. Spot running is much safer, compared to social running.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
