AN unemployed graduate from Nelson Mandela University (NMU), Lunga Ngcabashe (28), has come up with an idea of keeping the youth busy in Tsomo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngcabashe, from Ngcongcora in Tsomo, confirmed that by doing this initiative he also wanted to plough back to his community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure that his dream is fulfilled, Ngcabashe is working with his stakeholders who also come from areas in the Ntsika Yethu Local Municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They started a project called Singing Competition at Phase,<\/i> which is aired on DSTV Channel 260 on Wednesdays at 4pm and repeated on Saturdays at 9:30am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This project consists of music and drama. \u201cOur intention of shooting this series was to show youth that they have potential and they have a choice. Even if they continue with their education, they also have other directions in life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that he had graduated with a qualification in visual art, but he is unemployed at the moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that he had met other professionals from the same area and told them about his initiative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngcabashe said they showed interest and that led them to come on-board and they started a foundation called the Transkei Youth Foundation, which is the umbrella of what they are doing to develop young people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that there were many activities that were encouraged by this foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen the lockdown started, we were forced to come back home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am a person who likes to work with the youth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe then decided to gather youth from Tsomo, Ngqamakhwe and Cofimvaba, even in schools, with the aim of doing auditions for those who were interested in joining our project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
