That was a short and emphatic message from World Vision South Africa\u2019s national director, Bruce Layzell, to the learners of Nomaka Mbeki Senior Secondary School in Dutywa, as the organisation officially handed over digital learning resources to the school on August 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The digital resources included interactive white boards, computers with internet connectivity and scientific calculators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are aimed at promoting technology advancement and learner participation in vulnerable schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAccess to state-of-the-art learning resources like the ones we are giving to you today should not be a privilege, it is what you and every learner deserves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is also an investment and I expect repayment through the school producing excelling students that can be leaders in the future,\u201d Layzell said to the Nomaka Mbeki SSS learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eastern Cape Education MEC, Fundile Gade, said the digital resources donated by World Vision SA would not only benefit Nomaka Mbeki SSS learners, but also 38 other schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThirty-eight high schools from Dutywa circuit will benefit from the project with Nomaka Mbeki SSS being used as a centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMeanwhile, 27 junior secondary schools will benefit from our partnership with World Vision South Africa, as we have also handed over 20 computers to them that are placed at Ngubetole Bam JSS,\u201d Gade said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further expressed support for the roll-out of information and communications technology and the support of private public partnership with World Vision in assisting government in education transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nomaka Mbeki SSS Grade 12 learner, Asithandile Gosani, said the digital resources had simplified learning at the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe digital learning resources have made learning more fun and interactive, as our teachers are now able to simply connect their laptops to the smart white board and are able to use audio as well as audio visuals, which make it easy to understand what the teacher is saying,\u201d Gosani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
World Vision South Africa, a relief, development, and advocacy non-governmental organisation, has been working with the Mbhashe Local Municipality and the Basic Education Department to identify how they can improve the quality of education in schools since 2010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
