The MEC for Department of
\nTransport, Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe and the MEC for Department of Co-operative
\nGovernance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Xolile Nqatha officially handover a
\nstate of the art Vehicle Testing Centre (VTS) at Cofimvaba today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement issued by the Department of Transport\u2019s spokesperson, Unathi
\nBinqose, this VTS is the first of its kind in the small town of Cofimvaba and
\nwill help local drivers who have to travel long distances to have their
\nvehicles tested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nqatha believe that this
\ncentre will be a game changer and make life easier for both local motorists and
\nlocal traffic officers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is certainly going to be
\na game changer, not only for local motorists, but for our officers as well.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLong distances are a thing of the past for motorists while for our officers,
\nevery vehicle suspected of being unroadworthy can now be subjected to a
\nthorough test. We believe this will eliminate unroadworthy vehicles and
\ncertainly reduce the number of vehicle crashes on our roads,\u201d said
\nTikana-Gxothiwe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that the small town of Cofimvaba is also
\nstrategically placed along the R61 road, one of the major routes connecting the
\nEastern Cape and the Western Cape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a route that often reaches its
\nall-time peak in passenger vehicle traffic during the Festive season as people
\nmake their way home for the December holidays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
