The pain of learners either dropping out of school or not being able to progress to tertiary institutions has led the founder of Bomvane Youth Development, Lukhanyo Keti, from Nenga location in Coffee Bay, to stand up and assist learners from two senior secondary schools in Coffee Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said they assist these learners by doing application to tertiary institutions and by giving them prospectus books so that they may be able to choose what they want to study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keti said he is working with other stakeholders, including the traditional leader of the area, Chief Mfanelo Rhithilili, to fulfil his dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe saw the pain of learners who are dropping out from school every day. Some are using drugs and alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe decided to do something to save those who might be interested in furthering their studies,\u201d said Keti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that they are also working with the students from Walter Sisulu University, who are teaching them mathematics and physical science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Keti, the schools which are benefiting are Tyelinzima Senior Secondary School and Dudumanyo Senior Secondary School, both in Coffee Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also confirmed that they had managed to help 50 learners by helping them apply to higher education institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides this initiative, they also donated sanitary towels to girls from Tyelinzima Senior Secondary School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
