Traditional expert, Loyiso Nqevu, has appealed to community members to take their clan names seriously, as they are the tools that help them understand where they have come from. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nqevu was speaking with the congregants from Ngangelizwe Methodist Church of Southern Africa in Mthatha Circuit 1306, last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These congregants were hosting a special service, Urhona weziduko<\/span>, with the aim of raising funds for the church. Nqevu said it was important for people to know where they were coming from and the only way of knowing this information is with a clan name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cClan names were made for us to know our forefathers and where we are coming from,\u201d said Nqevu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the church stewards, Tembisa Zihlangu, said they had hosted this special service with the aim of raising funds because the pandemic of COVID-19 had affected them a lot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDespite the fact that our aim was to raise funds, we learnt a lot because it is important to know your background. Our children have benefited from this. I am the one who came with an idea of this nature and it had helped us a lot, meaning that we would host it every year,\u201d said Zihlangu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
