THE founder of Finch Street Productions, Philile Rwaxa, from Mdeni location in Mthatha, has collaborated with the Lalini Foundation to start an arts development with the aim of exposing young people to different careers that are suitable for learners who are studying art and culture at school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rwaxa, who is a qualified teacher, said he started this foundation with his two cousins. Rwaxa said they focused on career exhibitions especially for children from rural areas. \u201cOur children should be exposed in these things so that they could be able to make choices when they are old enough. When completing Grade 12, not all of them would be able to go to universities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat I have realised is that some of them are only learning theory, as they don\u2019t have equipment for this subject. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are bringing the theory and practical side of the creative art (together),\u201d said Rwaxa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said for now they were still focusing on children from Mdeni location, where he lives. He confirmed that their classes would run from 15:00 to 17:00 every Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They would be doing marimba, piano, guitar and djembe lessons, as well as drama and theatre workshops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur workshops are conducted by professionally trained art practitioners,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
