Gospel artist, actor, and church pastor, Dr Yongama Mrwetyana, is hoping that 2021 will be third time lucky for him at the sixth annual Eastern Cape Music Awards (ECMAS), after his previous two nominations in 2017 and 2018 did not garner enough public votes for him to bring the award home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year Mrwetyana is nominated in the best gospel artist category and is appealing for public votes before the cut-off date of December 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has also been on an aggressive nationwide campaign, visiting church gatherings, media houses and influential people to vote for him to secure the award this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am confident that, through the support of the people of Eastern Cape, I will bring the award home this year; hence, I continue to appeal to people out there to cast their votes as many times as they can before the cut-off date of December 4,\u201d Mrwetyana appealed..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Votes for Mrwetyana can be cast by texting the words ECMAS Best Gospel Artist DR Yongama Mrwetyana to 33459 at a cost of R1.50 per SMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sixth annual Eastern Cape Music Awards finals will take place in East London on December 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apart from being busy with his campaign for public votes, Mrwetyana will be spreading the gospel to his music fans with the release of his new album, titled I Am Still Standing<\/span>, which he says is scheduled for official release on Sunday, November 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe upcoming album is basically a reflection on the hardships and achievements I went through as an artist since joining the gospel music industry over a decade ago,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also revealed that he will be hosting a fund-raising concert called \u201cLive in Concert with Dr Yongama Mrwetyana,\u201d which will take place at the Mthatha Town Hall on December 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Proceeds from the concert will help students in need with their tuition fees in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mrwetyana said the public should be on the lookout for posters that will be placed in Mthatha town with a full line-up of artists performing on the day, as well as information on securing tickets for the
