An author from Farm B location in Middledrift has brought attention to the Mthatha area, by using Xhorana Village as the setting of his book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sibongile Maputi said his book, titled Imbuyekezo Yobusela Sisisele, <\/span>was set in Mthatha but also includes other districts, as far away as Bhisho. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He said he started writing in isiXhosa in 2006, after failed attempts to write his books in English. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He said he had enjoyed writing and reading books ever since his school days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One of his poetry books, titled Ivamna<\/span>Bafazi Bolusu,<\/span> has been used in schools as part of the syllabus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMy first book was published in 2011, titled Nase Khukweni <\/span>Lokufa Kwedini<\/span>, followed by Intlabi Iwuphuncule uMkhonto<\/span>. I have released 11 books in total,\u201d said Maputi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He added that he was proud of his language, which is why he had chosen to use it when writing. His books are suitable for Grade 10 learners upwards. He encouraged youth who wanted to follow in his steps not to underestimate themselves because their language is very important. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt is also important to use your language because this shows that you know where you came from,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He confirmed that his books were available online, but he is also negotiating with one of the book shops in East London.
