{"id":50514,"date":"2021-12-09T13:32:39","date_gmt":"2021-12-09T11:32:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/new-amathole-district-municipality-council-sworn-in-20211207\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T20:58:28","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T18:58:28","slug":"new-amathole-district-municipality-council-sworn-in-20211207","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/new-amathole-district-municipality-council-sworn-in-20211207\/","title":{"rendered":"New Amathole District Municipality council sworn in"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The newly elected Amathole District Municipality (ADM) council was inaugurated at the Calgary Conference Centre &amp; Museum on November 30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The council elected Councillor Nceba Ndikinda as ADM Executive Mayor, Councillor Nondumiso Mgidlana as Speaker, Councillor Nonceba Mfecane as Chief Whip and Councillor Ntsapho Sotshononda as Municipal Public Accounts Committee chairperson (MPAC). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Ndikinda, the council\u2019s aim is to foster a better municipality and continue with work done by the fourth administration, in pursuit of its long-term vision of \u201cbuilding a smart district\u201d and \u201cbringing ADM back to its former glory\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Images\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_51663de3\">\n<div class=\"slide\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/618\/a45ad616316d4fe391f89728e193f054.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/f7028e69f04d4f8e80240e77d72754c5.jpg\" title=\"New Amathole District Municipality Council Speaker, Councillor Nondumiso Mgidlana.\"><p><\/p>\n<div class=\"caption\">New Amathole District Municipality Council Speaker, Councillor Nondumiso Mgidlana.<\/div>\n<div class=\"img_accreditation\"><span class=\"source\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><span class=\"photographer\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ndikinda said that the recent elections campaign trail illuminated the service delivery challenges faced by the local municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe must now respond to all the issues which were raised by our people across all of our six local municipalities. These challenges relate to the supply of water and sanitation services in the face of a persistent drought and a relentless COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOurs is to ensure that we continue to increase access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable water services across the district,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, he said the leadership had a task to ensure implementation of sustainable water solutions which had already been identified by the fourth administration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further introduced the members of his mayoral committee as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cllr Fumanekile Phumaphi is the MMC responsible for budget and treasury<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cllr Nomfesane Nyathela is the MMC responsible for engineering and infrastructure services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cllr Bukelwa Madikane is the MMC for corporate and human resource management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cllr Nanziwe Rhulashe is the MMC responsible for strategic management and development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cllr Khanyile Maneli is the MMC for community services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cllr Bandile Ketelo is the MMC for special programmes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cllr Xhanti Mngxaso is the
