Members from various church denominations, who called themselves Covenant Prayer Partners, hosted a peaceful march through the streets of Mthatha to hand over a memorandum to the Mayor for King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality, Councillor Nyaniso Nelani, last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This memorandum will be passed to the Premier of the Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the secretary for Covenant Prayer Partners, Nontembiso Nogwaba, due to various challenges and problems facing their government such as the COVID-19 pandemic, poverty, unemployment, crime and the high rate of gender-based violence (GBV), they decided to come forward and show their support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said God had brought an answer through prayers of South Africans to the above-mentioned problems and challenges to rescue, set free, protect, heal, save and bless South Africa once more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe appeal to the Government to bring back into the National Anthem that part about the Holy Spirit \u201cYehla Moya Oyingcwele,\u201d which was taken out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was the most powerful part of our National Anthem. The Holy Spirit is grieving because of His people who are suffering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGovernment should allow the members of covenant partners to assist him in this regard as God has spoken to them,\u201d said Nogwaba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She confirmed that the marchers came from different churches to pray about the challenges facing South Africa. She said they were giving Mabuyane a month to respond to their memorandum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was signed by the Member of the Mayoral Committee, Councillor Nombulelo Sibeko, on behalf of Councillor Nelani, who was not available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sibeko said they were happy to see that church members were taking part in restoring the dignity of this province through their prayers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are happy because you followed all the right procedures, and you did not disrespect people along the way when you were coming to this building. Our province, and the country as a whole, need prayer,\u201d said Sibeko. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
