Tributes continue to pour in following the death of
\nMthatha businessman and philanthropist Dr Dan Malibongwe Pasiya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Pasiya passed away at Life Beacon Bay Hospital in
\nEast London on Saturday, January 22 at the age of 88.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur deepest condolences go to the Pasiya family,
\nfriends, business associates and colleagues of the late, great leader Dr Pasiya.
\nWe have lost a giant who has been a shining example of black excellence
\nthroughout the Eastern Cape,\u201d said Eastern Cape Premie,r Oscar Mabuyane in
\nleading the tributes to the Pasiya family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA pioneer in his own right, Dr Pasiya had established
\nhimself as an astute businessman with a heart for the development of his
\ncommunity. While he had resources to establish himself anywhere in the country,
\nhe had chosen to grow his business within the O.R. Tambo region, a move which
\nhas overtime contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of Mthatha
\narea,\u201d Mabuyane said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders (ECHTL)
\ndescribed the late Dr Pasiya as a man of great calibre who immensely
\ncontributed to the country\u2019s economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Province [Eastern Cape] has certainly lost a
\ngreat man of great calibre and sadly it is a loss to the business sector for he
\nwas a leader of the great Pasiya empire that is contributing to the economic
\ndevelopment of our country. A great tree has fallen but his benevolence is
\nengraved in our hearts and minds. May the family be comforted in the hope and
\nbelief that he will be reunited with them one day,\u201d read a statement posted on
\nECHTL Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Pasiya owned the popular Dan\u2019s Country Lodge on the
\nN2 outside Mthatha, among many of his successful businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had been active in business for more than five
\ndecades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funeral arrangements were expected to be communicated
