{"id":50278,"date":"2022-02-03T12:44:04","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T10:44:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/senior-admin-clerk-convicted-for-r133-000-fraud-20220203\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T21:22:48","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T19:22:48","slug":"senior-admin-clerk-convicted-for-r133-000-fraud-20220203","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/senior-admin-clerk-convicted-for-r133-000-fraud-20220203\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior admin clerk convicted for R133 000 fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The East London Regi\u00adonal court has yesterday, February 2, convicted Ziqelekazi Matyholo (44) on numerous counts of fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matyholo was employed as a Senior Admin Clerk for the Department of Justice, attached to Human Resource Section during the period between May 1, 2008 and Septem\u00adber 15, 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was responsible for faci\u00adlitating redeployment, imple\u00admenting relocation costs, furniture remo\u00adval and resettlement benefits of the new appointees and offi\u00adcials of the departm\u00adent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On discovering some discrepancies where even new employees were paid relocation cos\u00adts and resettlement ? benefits, the Depa\u00adrtment of Justice lo\u00addged a complaint with the East London based Serious Commer\u00adcial Crime Investiga\u00adtion team of the Haw\u00adks for probing in De\u00adcember 2010, which cu\u00adlminated in the arre\u00adst of Matyholo on July 4, 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe investigations revealed that Matyholo requested invoices from the Service Pr\u00adoviders for the remo\u00adval of furniture for the Department of Justice employees who relocated to diff\u00aderent districts arou\u00adnd the Eastern Cape and Free State. She processed and submit\u00adted the quotations and? invoices for the removal of the fur\u00adniture to the Depart\u00adment for payment of which the Departme\u00adnt approved and paid for,\u201d said Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe then instructed the service providers to withdraw the mo\u00adney and hand it over to her. It later da\u00adwned that the serv\u00adice providers never even rendered the se\u00adrvices. The Departme\u00adnt of Justice was th\u00adus prejudiced cash to the value of more than R113?&nbsp;000,\u201d added Mgolodela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matyholo made her short appearance in the East London Magistra\u00adte\u2019s court on the sa\u00adme day where she was released on warning. She subsequently made several court ap\u00adpearances before her conviction on February 2, 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The matter was rema\u00adnded to March 25, 2022, for sentencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6
