Eastern Cape Police are on the
\nhunt for three awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from Mount Frere Court
\ncells on February 11 in the Alfred Nzo District. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said preliminary investigation indicates that
\npolice were bringing the prisoners from court back to the cells when six
\nprisoners escaped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThree of the escapees have since been re-arrested, whilst
\nthree others are still on the run,\u201d said Kinana.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
These are the three outstanding escapees<\/div>\n
\n
    \n
  1. Mandla Ncukana (31) originally from Qumbu. He was arrested for business robbery; <\/li>\n
  2. Mongi Luvalo (22) from Mt Frere. He was arrested for malicious injury to property and carjacking; and <\/li>\n
  3. Ntsikelelo Ngxaka (34) from Mt Frere. He was arrested for business burglary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Kinana confirmed that during the
    \nstruggle with prisoners, one female police officer sustained injuries and was
    \nsubsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Kinana said the circumstances
    \nsurrounding the incident are currently under investigation by a team assembled immediately after the incident by SAPS management.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Meanwhile cases of escaping from lawful custody have been opened against the
    \nescapees and an internal investigation would also be conducted to establish how
    \nthe incident occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThe members of the community
    \nare requested not to attempt to arrest the escapees but alert the police should
    \nthey identify one of them. The prisoners are believed to be very dangerous to
    \nthe society as they have committed serious crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Anyone with information on the
    \nwhereabouts of the suspects is requested to kindly inform the nearest police
    \nstation or call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111. All information would be
    \ntreated with strictest confidentiality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
