An artist from Qokolweni location in Mthatha is passing his knowledge of art on to the next generation by training learners who are interested in visual art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nangamso Mgwetyana said that among the things that he is doing, are painting and portraits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said he was educating young people with the aim of ploughing back into the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI always encourage people that if you have a talent, you must not sit down but instead try to get advice from others who have already developed their skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI started what I am doing when I was in high school. That\u2019s when I saw that I should pursue my talent,\u201d said Mgwetyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said some of the learners were brought by their parents so that he could teach them. Mgwetyana confirmed that he was also mentored by an artist, when he was younger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was previously part of a programme called Artists in School (AIS) that was hosted by the Guild Theatre and the Department of Education from 2015-2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
