Nolundi Mbele (46) was
\nconvicted by the Mthatha Serious Commercial Crimes Court yesterday on charges of fraud, alternatively theft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spokesperson for the Hawks, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, said during the period between July 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020 Mbele was working
\nat Umzimvubu Local Municipality as a Supervisor at the licensing department. She failed to deposit the monies that were paid for the licensing of vehicles
\nat the Municipality to the account of the Department of Transport and took it
\nfor self-enrichment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe matter was reported to Mthatha Based Serious
\nCommercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks in April 2020 to commence with
\ninvestigations,\u201d said Mgolodela. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that the investigations led to the
\narrest of Mbele on June 7, 2021 and she made a short court appearance at Mount
\nFrere Magistrate\u2019s Court, where she was released on R5 000 bail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mgolodela said
\nthe matter was later transferred to Mthatha Serious Commercial Crimes Court for
\ntrial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe investigations brought
\nforward evidence that Mbele had prejudiced the Department of Transport cash to
\nthe value of more than R120 000. After several court appearances she was
\nconvicted yesterday. The matter was remanded to April 8, 2022 for sentencing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
