MEC for Education, Fundile Gade, urged parents from Chafutweni location in Willowvale to discipline their children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gade said this during an imbizo and special prayer, after the gruesome murder of three people in that area, recently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI also urge you to report the crime that is happening in the village to the police and learn to speak out,\u201d said Gade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gade represented the Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane, at this imbizo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was accompanied by the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, and other stakeholders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The focus was on the National Development Plan (NDP), with specific emphasis on the work that needed to be done by the government and community members to achieve a safer and more secure Eastern Cape for all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The residents of this area expressed their concerns with the general state of crime and service delivery in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They raised issues of concern and also requested an increase in patrols and police visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other concerns involved road construction, and a lack of water and sanitation around the village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mene assured the community that police visibility would be increased and that the SAPS satellite station at Nqadu Great Place needed to be better utilised. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPolice are busy with investigation as there were suspects arrested in these (murder) cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is an SAPS provincial hotline, 040 608 7562\/7524, which was introduced for the community members to report criminal activities anonymously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
