Eight men were arrested and five firearms recovered within hours of a business robbery in Mbizana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, it is alleged that at least
\neight heavily armed unknown men, travelling in a white Toyota Corolla, targeted a
\nlocal business that was operating as a pension pay-out outlet in Kwandela
\nlocality in Mbizana on Monday, May 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Post Office employees, who were manning a
\nsatellite outlet, were held at gunpoint together with security officers.
\nSuspects managed to steal an undisclosed amount of cash,\u201d said Nkohli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects fled in the Corolla and a grey Toyota Hilux
\nbelonging to one of the suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that police\u2019s immediate response led to the arrest of five of the suspects not far from the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nkohli said that a preliminary investigation led to the
\narrest of the three other suspects and the recovery of five firearms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe
\nsecond get-away vehicle that was stolen during a robbery was found abandoned a few kilometres away from the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nkohli said the suspects were expected to appear before the Mbizana Magistrate\u2019s Court today on charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
