Eighteen members of the Nojweda family, from Emaqhingeni location in Libode, are living in a dilapidated rondavel that could collapse anytime due to its condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the family members, Kwa Khanya Rhoda (34), said that her family was living in this rondavel with her siblings and their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat is painful is that no-one is employed. We are all depending on the social grant of my children. It is not enough because all of us we are not working, and we don\u2019t have parents. We are forced to leave our home in the afternoons and go to sleep in the neighbourhood because of the situation (of there not being enough space for everyone),\u201d said Nojweda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said when it rained, each one of them looks for part of the roof that is not leaking, so that she can stand with their children to avoid getting wet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to not having a proper house, her siblings don\u2019t have identity documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is giving us more problems because at school, the children need to submit birth certificates, which they don\u2019t have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ward Councillor, Nikiwe Zihlangu, confirmed that she knew about the problem facing this family. \u201cI took their information and forwarded it to the relevant office. I am still waiting for a response,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
