{"id":49255,"date":"2022-06-23T12:08:10","date_gmt":"2022-06-23T10:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/director-celebrates-birthday-by-hosting-dental-week-20220621\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T22:45:59","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T20:45:59","slug":"director-celebrates-birthday-by-hosting-dental-week-20220621","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/director-celebrates-birthday-by-hosting-dental-week-20220621\/","title":{"rendered":"Director celebrates birthday by hosting dental week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The founder and director of Chezi Cliff PTY (Ltd), Pumza Mnqandi, celebrated her birthday in a different way, as she hosted a dental awareness week, with the aim of educating learners about keeping their teeth in good condition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schools which benefited from this programme all fall under the Mbhashe Local Municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mnqandi said 900 learners in total benefited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first event was held at Ludondolo Primary School in Dutywa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe then went to Elliotdale and Willowvale districts. When I grew up people used to laugh at me because I had rotten teeth. I now make sure that I take care of my teeth. That is why I decided to host this event and invited dentists to check teeth for learners,\u201d said Mnqandi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added that, besides celebrating her birthday, she also wanted to plough back to the community because she had attended Ludondolo Primary School as a child. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said that it was important to take care of health and people should be educated about how to keep their teeth healthy, including young children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter I had this vision, I then communicated with other business facilities which also gave me support and helped me to collect gifts for these children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gifts included toothbrushes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The principal of the school, Mxolisi Maboza, said they were happy because dental health was one of the things that people neglected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said this initiative would make their learners be more informed about dental hygiene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI also thank her (Mnqandi) for choosing our school to be the centre of this event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur area is in the rural areas, so we are happy, especially as it was our first time to have such an event where learners are educated about the importance of keeping their teeth in the right condition,\u201d said Maboza. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chairperson of the school governing body (SGB), Gideon Khohliwe, said that what Mnqandi had done opened eyes to other former learners that they should not forget where they came from. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is such a blessing to see our children remembering where they are coming from. We are proud because Mnqandi is a seed of this school,\u201d said Khohliwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Images\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_43bf96f4\">\n<div
