Mqanduli police are investigating a case of attempted murder
\nand concealment of birth after police rescued a new-born baby from a public
\ntoilet at Dywili Flats, Newtown, Mqanduli on July 5 at about 12:10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Khaya
\nMatola-Mvanyashe, it is alleged that police were summoned to the scene by
\nmembers of the community after they heard the baby crying inside the public
\ntoilet hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn arrival, police managed to rescue the baby and rushed
\nher to Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha for medical attention. The
\ninitial investigation indicates that the baby was dumped in the toilet but
\nmiraculously she survived the ordeal. She was given the name of Kungenceba,
\nwhich simply means that it is through God\u2019s mercies that she was rescued alive
\nin such conditions,\u201d Mvanyashe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The circumstances surrounding the incident forms part of the
\ninvestigation. No arrests effected yet, and the investigation continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an unrelated incident, police are seeking the assistance
\nof the public to find an 8-year-old girl Qhama Tyali who went missing from her
\nhome, Mzantsi Location, Godidi in Butterworth on July 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa said Qhama was
\nlast seen while she was sent to the nearby shop to buy bread and never came
\nback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preliminary investigation was done with no success<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a purple
\ntrouser, with a white and navy jersey and Gumboots,\u201d Mawisa added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
