Life St Mary\u2019s Private Hospital in Mthatha, on August 4, formally unveiled its revamped state of the art paediatric unit, which it says has been designed to enhance patient experience and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The R30 million investment in the paediatric unit sees the unit expanded with the addition of 10 new beds, having increased its bed capacity from 22, prior to the expansion, to 32 beds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unit upgrades included the installation of additional isolation cubicles, allowing total isolation of patients from other patients in the unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also includes installation of additional oxygen points to accommodate patients requiring increased oxygen flow while not requiring to be accommodated in the intensive care unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn addition, the hospital\u2019s recent renovation and upgrade projects ensure that we continually attract and retain highly skilled specialists and nursing staff to the best healthcare services. The completion of this project is the culmination of the hospital\u2019s strategy to enhance its service offerings over the last eight years,\u201d said Moavodi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paediatric unit upgrade follows other recent expansion and upgrades, making Life St Mary\u2019s Private Hospital a 157-bed facility with a 24-hour accident and emergency care unit, operating theatres, maternity and medical\/surgical wards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hospital manager Sive Jama said clients could look forward to other exciting developments and upgrades to the facility, which were still in the pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are more developments coming up that are currently being engaged at board level and I think the next project we might be looking at is upgrading of our theatres by ensuring that they are fitted with modern and state of the art technology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
