A special council meeting of Amathole District
\nMunicipality (ADM) today, August 11, has elected Anele Ntsangani as the new
\nexecutive mayor of the district municipality following the recall of former
\nexecutive mayor Nceba Ndikinda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The special council meeting also elected Onke Mgunculu
\nas the new council speaker while Nanziwe Rulashe who previously served as a
\nmayoral committee member in Ndikinda\u2019s executive was elected as the new council
\nchief whip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The election of the new troika followed the recall of
\nformer mayor Ndikinda, former council speaker Nondumiso Mgidlana and former
\nchief whip Nonceba Mfecane by the ANC for defying party orders, on August 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new troika will assume their new responsibilities
\nwith immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nCouncil was elected at its Calgary Council Chambers on August 11, 2022. This
\nafter the previous incumbents had tendered their resignations therefore
\ncreating vacancies in the political office bearers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFirst sworn in as councillors of Amathole District
\nMunicipal Council were Councillors Anele Ntsangani and Onke Mgunculu whom
\nthereafter were elected as the new executive mayor and council speaker. By
\nvirtue of already being part of AdM council, Councillor Nanziwe Rulashe was
\nelected as the Chief Whip of Council,\u201d said ADM spokesperson Nonceba
