A Mayfair Casino
\nemployee and his friend were convicted of fraud of half a million rand in the
\nSpecialised Commercial Crime Court on Thursday, August 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said that during 2021 to
\nFebruary 2022, Sinethemba Mdoda (27) who was employed at the Mayfair Casino in Mthatha as a guest
\nrelations officer colluded with his friend Yamkela Ndlala (28) to commit fraud at the Mayfair
\nCasino. Mdoda unlawfully and intentionally loaded redeemable points
\nfor Ndlala to the amount of R500 000 as well as 5 000
\npoints to all Mayfair Casino clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe members of the Mthatha based Hawk\u2019s
\nSerious Commercial Crime Investigation were summoned to attend the crime scene
\nand conducted the investigations which led to the arrest of Mdoda and Ndlala on
\nFebruary 14, 2022. They were released on R5 000 bail each,\u201d said
\nMgolodela.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that the investigation revealed that the Casino
\nsuffered an actual prejudice of R500 000 and was saved from a potential
\nloss of R10 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter numerous postponements, the
\nduo was ultimately convicted yesterday, and were remanded in custody
\npending sentencing to be handed out on August 29, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hawk\u2019s Provincial Head, Major General Obed Ngwenya welcomed the conviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
