Members of the non-governmental organisation, Viva Con Agua, together with the non-profit organisation, Bulungula Incubator, hosted an art exhibition week at Nqileni Village in Elliotdale, last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to one of the trainers, Andile Poswa, he was asked by this NGO to assist by teaching people of that area about art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Poswa, who is a visual artist, said the intention of this event was to bring exhibitions to this area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was asked to train them so that they can get more knowledge about art and to demonstrate their work so that people will know them,\u201d said Poswa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, there are also women who are making soap, perfumes and oils using lemon grass which is found in that area, who also demonstrated their work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that it was the first time for this location to host such an exhibition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat I like about it is that even if the person did not buy your work, they might share the information with others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is not a must that the exhibition should be formal but what matters is that it opens opportunities for artists.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nosintu Gwebindlala Foundation founder, Nosintu Gwebindlala, said that she never thought that the exhibition could be hosted in a location. She said it was their first time to witness this and they were happy because this had happened in their area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis has shown us the other side of our children because most of the art here was drawn and made by them. It is so amazing that there are some hidden talents in our area,\u201d said Gwebindlala. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that they were proud of their community members and the people who supported this initiative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are also having another programme called Vi-brand Youth which is also supported by this NGO. In fact it was started by Bulungula Incubator but this NGO also played a major role to ensure that it is growing.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
