Afrikan Young Indigenous Leaders (AYIL) paid a courtesy visit to Majija Great Place in Ngcobo, with the purpose of formally introducing the organisation to the chief of the area, Chief Ngubezulu Majija, last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the founder for Afrikan Young Indigenous Leaders, Nikiwe Bam, the aim of this visit was to build relations and initiate community programmes that involve old and young people to the community of this area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bam confirmed that she is also from this area, and she was recently conferred an honorary doctorate in Leadership and Governance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI felt that it was the right time to introduce the organisation in my village, so that no-one thinks that I have forgotten about my origin. I promote the AYIL and Ibuyambo Yamampondomise and the restoration of the institute of traditional leaders as a whole,\u201d said Bam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that during this visit AYIL had invited different guests, stakeholders and potential donors who can partner with this community for various programmes. According to her, executive deputy chairperson of the Provincial Committee, Princess Zodidi Ndamase, came with women who are supporting her Traditional Council and Maiden girls who motivated their peers to also be part of Inkciyo (virginity testing) in the province, which promotes good morals and prevents teenage pregnancy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bam added that one of the senior citizens, Magcina Majija, encouraged the young girls to follow others who came all the way from Libode to show them how girls should be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe is a citizen who is still willing to see her community develop, women respected, and boys respecting girls. I was happy that the event went so well, even though we always have limited resources.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also thanked the youth, boys and girls who only practised one day but were very active and full of energy during the visits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIndeed, our future is bright if we honour those who are sent by our ancestors to lead us.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
