AUTHOR, Lungisa Ngqolovu, from Macosa locality in Mqanduli, confirmed that even though he is partially blind, he has managed to publish six novels, so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngqolovu resides in Chris Hani Park in Mthatha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides being an author, he is also a poet and a radio presenter at Unitra Community Radio (UCR FM) in Mthatha. Ngqolovu said that he is presenting a programme called Ekhaya Mkhaya Ngoduladula from 10:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, he gained a lot of knowledge from the former Maskandi presenter, Sindile Majikija.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Talking about his condition, he said that he grew up with his eyesight intact, but was infected by measles which led him to become partially blind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI used to listen to the radio to the extent that I learnt to create my own stories. One other time I attended a ceremony where my school, Efata-School for the Blind and Deaf, was receiving a bus at Walter Sisulu University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere were a lot of people showing the audience their talents, and no-one from our side who was interested to do that. I decided to stand up and show that even if you are blind, God still gave you a talent. I told them a story that was in my heart, and people were very excited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the audience members, Nompucuko Zakaza, advised me to write a book, and that is how the journey of my writing skill started,\u201d said Ngqolovu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that at Efata they were also taught how to use computers, and this made things easier for him. He confirmed that after his management saw that he was interested in writing, they loaned him a computer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI could not believe when I received my first book titled, Ndixolele Nozuko<\/span>. Most of the time my books are talking about love, something that has advantages and disadvantages.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ngqolovu confirmed that he also participated in the Reading Club Festival 2023 that was held in East London, last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He said he was very excited to be given such an opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to him, he is struggling because he does not have a permanent job. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He advised other people who are living with disability to ensure that they follow their dream. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe know that some are hidden by their relatives, due to their situation, but they must love themselves and be proud because they are also human beings.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The titles of his books are Into Zothando<\/span>, Intlungu ka Nomzamo<\/span>, Isikhalo sika Nonzwakazi<\/span>, Ndilu ngcibe njani na Sphokazi<\/span> and Amanzithi nzithi obomi buka Lungisa<\/span>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He said that those who might be interested to get them must contact him
