The Department of Social Development in the OR Tambo District has closed the Mthatha and Mqanduli service offices due to an outbreak of snakes and reptiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was confirmed
\nby the spokesperson for Department of Social Development in OR Tambo District,
\nNomasakhe Nonxuba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to her, these outbreaks have been caused by old
\ninfrastructure of the buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMqanduli Service Office has been closed in
\n2019 and Mthatha Service Office in April 2023. There are alternative
\narrangements and negotiations between the department and the King Sabatha
\nDalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality for sharing of offices in Mqanduli as the
\npermanent project is still underway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn Mthatha Service Office, the Social
\nWorkers are sharing offices in Botha Sigcawu Building as the discussions with
\nthe Department of Public Works to relocate to KD Building are still being
\ndiscussed,\u201d said Nonxuba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that the department has already done
\nprocurement for snake catchers, anti-snake chemicals and bush cutters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
