{"id":47276,"date":"2023-05-30T13:33:47","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T11:33:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/cashier-arrested-for-fraud-and-theft-in-mthatha-20230530\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T00:37:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T22:37:45","slug":"cashier-arrested-for-fraud-and-theft-in-mthatha-20230530","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/mthathaexpress\/cashier-arrested-for-fraud-and-theft-in-mthatha-20230530\/","title":{"rendered":"Cashier arrested for fraud and theft in Mthatha"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Mthatha-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit of the HAWKS arrested a former Jumbo Cash &amp; Carry cashier for charges of theft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, Khulekani Koyana (33) appeared in the Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crime\u2019s Court on Monday, May 29. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mgolodela said in February 2023 the management of Jumbo Cash and Carry lodged a complaint against Koyana, alleging that when he was employed as a cashier during March 2022 and October 2022, he unlawfully and intentionally created fraudulent credit notes which he redeemed for cash for his personal benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is further alleged that he also used the manager\u2019s card and password to authorise fictitious transactions on the system without authority. Investigations ensued and confirmed that Jumbo suffered a total loss of more than R360&nbsp;000,\u201d Mgolodela said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She confirmed that Koyana was released on warning and the matter
