The Mayor of Ntabankulu Local Municipality, Councillor Tsileng Sobuthongo, tabled the State of the Municipality Address covering service delivery since council was sworn into office in 2021, and the budget for 2023\/2024 financial year was tabled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the municipal spokesperson, Lungisile Mzanywa, included in the address from Sobuthongo were radical plans, and already sought interventions by the municipality, for the people of Ntabankulu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A case in point is the establishment of the Agricultural College Campus in Ntabankulu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe college will not be just buildings for teaching and it ends there, it will be a springboard for community development. We are looking forward to the establishment of a cannabis processing plant within this bigger initiative of the college, and it will benefit ordinary people of Ntabankulu,\u201d said Sobuthongo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the difficulties of people from the Dikidikini locality would now be history, as a budget has been set aside for the construction of the bridge and access road that connects the people of Dikidikini to Ntabankulu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is one of the groundbreaking developments in Ntabankulu that are born out of our relentless efforts to engage government at all levels, to come on board and assist us as we resolve service delivery challenges in Ntabankulu.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform had come on board and partnered with DBSA. According to her they would now be able to deliver services such as electricity and access roads as government in Dikidikini. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis municipality has also taken the initiative of buying its own Yellow Fleet Plant in order to deal with roads maintenance. This will assist the municipality to respond swiftly on challenges of unusable roads. The municipality includes the construction of the Traffic Department offices in Ntabankulu, which puts to an end the sourcing of Driving Licensing Testing Centre (DLTC) services from other towns.
