A delegation from Mpumalanga\u2019s Nkomazi Local Municipality had nothing but praise for King Sabata (KSD) Local Municipality\u2019s shift and overtime management systems, after having spent two days as part of its benchmarking exercise with local municipal authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nkomazi municipality mayoral committee member (MMC) responsible for corporate services, Sipho Sibiya, said that the visit to KSD came after the local municipality had challenges with its work shift and danger allowance policies and systems, which consumed a large chunk of their budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs a council we had some challenges regarding work shifts and danger allowance, which were consuming a lot of our budget and compromising service delivery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon doing research on how to deal with the problem, we came across KSD municipality as one of the municipalities that were managing the problem very well, which led to the benchmarking visit,\u201d said Sibiya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further described their engagement with KSD municipal authorities as valuable and meaningful, adding that they were going back to Mpumalanga with a package that they will implement in Nkomazi Local Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have extended a leaf to the KSD municipality for them to also come and learn about what we are doing well as Nkomazi municipality, such as audit outcomes improvement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visit was a start of, hopefully, a long-term partnership between the two municipalities,\u201d added Sibiya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KSD corporate services MMC, Nombulelo Sibeko, said that the local municipality was humbled at being used as a benchmark, adding that this proved that there are things they were excelling in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe KSD municipality will benefit from the benchmarking visit by the Nkomazi Local Municipality, which we consider as forging of a long-term partnership with them,\u201d said Sibeko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nkomazi municipality delegation was in KSD on June 14 and 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
