The netball world cup trophy will touch down in Mthatha this coming Friday, June 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is part of a trophy tour to all the provinces ahead of the official kickoff of the netball world cup, which will be held in Cape Town on Friday, July 28. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The opening match will be between South Africa and Wales, in Cape Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young netball enthusiasts under the OR Tambo Region can\u2019t wait for the trophy to arrive in Mthatha this coming Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nobuhle Makeleni, who is one of the rural players, said she is excited for the big day and to hold the trophy with her own hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Makeleni\u2019s dream is to be a Protea player one day, and play with her favourite player, Bongiwe Msomi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Makeleni is currently playing for the Tambo Netball Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be the first time for rural netballers to see and touch the trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also the first time that the African continent hosts the Netball World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netball South Africa and the trophy are expected to be welcomed by the King Sabata Dalindyebo municipality mayor, Nyaniso Nelani, this Friday in Mthatha.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
