A woman, Bongeka Buso (38) from Tholeni Administrative Area in Butterworth, was found hanging from a rope inside her rondavel while her two children, Oratile Buso (5) and Orabile Buso,8, were found dead on the bed, and Anathi Buso (about 14 years old) was found lying on the floor next to the bed with a knife in her neck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 07:00 on Sunday, August 6, a woman visited the deceased\u2019s rondavel when she made the shocking discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is suspected that the two younger children were poisoned; the motive for the deaths is not known; however, it is suspected that it could be driven by poverty. A case of three murder cases and an inquest is opened for investigation,\u201d said Naidu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, has expressed sadness and concern following the deceased\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that it is a concerning and heart-breaking issue that women facing poverty can be driven to such despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSocioeconomic challenges can exacerbate their vulnerability to mental health issues,\u201d said Mene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAddressing poverty and promoting mental health support is crucial to prevent such tragedies. As we commemorate Women\u2019s Month, I urge, women to raise their voices and speak out. It is crucial to address concerns promptly rather than waiting until they become more difficult to resolve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
