Members of the Ncedo Taxi Association in Lusikisiki showed love and support, by donating food and other necessities to the Mkhohlwa family at Mbhayi locality in Lusikisiki, recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Business Development manager from Uncedo Taxi Association, Lulama Gxagxiso, Mbhayi locality is one of the localities where they are operating as they are taking passengers to town and back home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The family consists of 10 members, including grandchildren, and they depend on grinding maize in order to cook as there is no-one working or receiving a social grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe were informed by some of our drivers and members of this association that there is a homestead that had been burned to ashes by a mysterious fire. We then sent a team to investigate and after we received the feedback we decided to help where we can. What is more painful is that one of the siblings, Enkosi Mkholwa (8), was severely burned, to the extent that he was transferred to the Nelson Mandela Hospital in Mthatha, from St Elizabeth Hospital,\u201d said Gxagxiso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that they appealed to the family to let them know when they were going to visit him, so they can assist where they can. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, it was the first time they had done something like this where they assisted the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that they are led by the chairman of this association, Loyiso Siyephu, who likes development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDue to his motivating words, and that he always opens our minds to new ideas, we managed to fulfil our plan.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the family members, Simbonile Mkolwa, said that since the electricity was not working, he was on the way to his neighbour to charge his phone, when he received the news that their small one-roomed house was on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that Enkosi was sleeping in the same room when the incident happened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe do not know how the fire happened, because there was no candle that was left burning. Even my children were using their cell phones when they wanted light. When I tried to check if all my children were safe, Enkosi responded while standing in the dark that he was safe. We do not know how he managed to escape,\u201d said Mkolwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that Enkosi was severely burnt, and they rushed him to St Elizabeth Hospital but he was later transferred to the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital due to his injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, he is sleeping in one room that is in his homestead while the children are sleeping in the neighbourhood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe were given two blankets and a sponge by our councillor. Now we received food and other stuff from the members of the Ncedo Taxi Association. We thank them for showing love by supporting us.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
