Libode-based Nyandeni Local Municipality has announced
\nthe death of its incumbent council speaker Councillor Mcebisi Mtobela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The news of Mtobela\u2019s death were confirmed by the
\nmunicipal spokesperson Ncebakazi Kolwane in a statement this morning, October
\n1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of
\nthe Honorable Speaker of the Council of Nyandeni Local Municipality, Cllr
\nMcebisi Mtobela. Cllr Mtobela has been a dedicated public servant, a tireless
\nadvocate for community development, and a steadfast leader in our municipality
\nfor over two decades,\u201d read the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mtobela
\njoined the Nyandeni Local Municipality in 2000 as a ward councillor and
\nchairperson of the standing committee on infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHis
\nleadership extended beyond his role as a ward councillor as he played various
\ncrucial roles in the leadership of our municipality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn 2006 he
\nbecame a member of the mayoral committee responsible for spatial planning until
\n2011 when he became council chief whip for two terms and was later elected as
\nthe council speaker where he presided over key council deliberations and
\ndecisions that shaped our municipality,\u201d said Kolwane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kolwane said
\nMtobela\u2019s legacy was characterised by dedication, integrity, and compassion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe leaves
\nbehind a council that is stronger and more united because of his upright
\nleadership,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local
\nmunicipality has extended its deepest condolences to his family, friends,
\ncolleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
