The alarming incidents of attacks on women and children are a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective efforts to create a society where everyone feels safe and protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body of a 6-year-old girl was found hidden under a bed after she was reported missing on Thursday, 7 December, in NU 13 Inyibiba near Mdantsane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the child had been missing since Wednesday, 6 December 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201d At about 20:30, on Thursday, December 7, police were summoned to a house in the same area as the community went to search for the child after receiving information,\u201d said Naidu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn arrival, police were met with hostility from the community and after backup arrived, police entered the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA severely injured man was found naked outside; however, he later succumbed to his injuries. On searching the house, the body of the six-year-old was found under the bed, wrapped in plastic,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is suspected that the child may have been raped; however, this will be confirmed in the post-mortem,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police are investigating two cases of murder for the child and alleged perpetrator who was bludgeoned by the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Nomthetheleli Mene expressed her sadness about this tragic incident, especially at a time when the country is observing 16 days of Activism of no violence against women and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVigilance and education are essential in protecting our children from sexual predators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
