Government communicator and philanthropist, Sizwe Kupelo, through his Sizwe Kupelo Foundation, came to the rescue of the desperately needy community of Chwebeni in Port St Johns, where community members had reportedly resorted to hunting monkeys in a desperate attempt to put food on the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This, as the Sizwe Kupelo Foundation, Lusikisiki Spar, Port St John\u2019s Spar and Quma Funeral Services partnered in ensuring a cheerful Christmas for the community, by donating 32 food hampers and treating those in need to a Christmas lunch on December 25 last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sizwe Kupelo Foundation and its partners were moved by an SABC News report of the Chwebeni community living in desperate poverty, to the extent that they hunted monkeys for meat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome of us are blessed to be able to go to bed with food in our stomachs, so if there is a chance we can share with those less fortunate, we must offer a helping hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, we cannot help everyone at the same time, but if we can all play our part, we can make an impact no matter how little it is.<\/div>\n
Kupelo<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Sizwe Kupelo Foundation, which was formed in 2008, has been doing its bit for under-privileged communities by building houses, donating school uniforms and shoes, bursaries, computer laboratories, and hosting Christmas parties for under-privileged children among its many philanthropic initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation and its partners further donated vegetable seedlings to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t just want to ensure they have food for Christmas, and it ends there, we want to ensure they will have nutritional food going forward,\u201d Kupelo added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Various areas in the Eastern Cape, including Libode, Ngqeleni, Lusikisiki, and East London have benefited from the annual Christmas day event with children getting helicopter rides, educational toys, and school uniforms over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are grateful to every individual and business for partnering with us as we strive to make a difference in our communities. We are calling on others to play their respective roles in their small corners,\u201d Kupelo concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
