Former Chairperson of Cofimvaba\u2019s Mthunga Primary School Governing Body (SGB), Mziwamadoda Nyamakazi (66), has appealed to the Department of Education to send more teachers to this school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nyamakazi said the school has 80 learners and only two teachers. According to him the problem started when one of the teachers took a transfer, and a second one left the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere were only four teachers, but now we are left with only two. It is painful because the learners are writing their exams. We do not know how our children are going to cope because of this shortage. We are asking ourselves why the government is putting more work to these teachers; how are they supposed to work because their school has a lot of classrooms?\u201d said Nyamakazi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, they also tried to hire an SGB teacher to teach computers, but parents refused to pay. Spokesperson for the Department of Education, Malibongwe Mtima, said this school is in a deep rural area, on the periphery, far from town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the school is struggling to attract educators due to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe placed additional educators at the school in March; however, all those educators opted for other schools, exercising their rights in line with CA 04 of 2016. In light of the above predicament, we have since therefore prioritised the school for a post level one appointment as soon as they are opened by human resources,\u201d said Mtima.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
