Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu confirmed that the situation in Mthatha is still tense with many roads leading into and out of Mthatha still closed since this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that currently, the main road, which is the N2, and the R61 are closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMotorists are advised to use alternative routes and to avoid these roads. Five suspects were arrested at about 10 am this morning after shots were fired at Public Order Policing and Mthatha Vispol members. Two suspects sustained injuries, while the other three were arrested,\u201d said Naidu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that two firearms were also confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naidu confirmed that a case of attempted murder and possession of firearms has been opened for further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
