Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, is condemning the acts of vandalism and disruption that have been seen on the National roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mabuyane said that the N2 and R61 in Mthatha have been blockaded with trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that this follows circulating disturbing images showing torched trucks that are blockading roads and some being looted in Mthatha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe acts are allegedly perpetrated by disgruntled members of the taxi industry who have had their firearms confiscated following the resurgence of taxo violence in Mthatha, Tsolo and Nqanqarhu. Anarchy will not be tolerated-warning parties involved that they would face the full might of the law if this continues. We have mobilised law enforcement agencies to intervene with full might so as to control the situation in Mthatha,\u201d said Mabuyane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that he wanted to thank the police for acting swiftly on those who wanted to disrupt operations in the Mthatha Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have also requested President Cyril Ramaphosa to assist with deploying the South African National Defence Force in the area as well. What we will not tolerate are acts of anarchy that include the blocking of National roads and looting of goods from trucks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that they have opened their lines for engagement for all parties involved so as to find an amicable solution to the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, they call on those causing these disruptions to refrain from such immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
