The spirit of unity and togetherness is running high among participants of the 400km Iconic Challenge as part of the Icon\u2019s Journey Marathon. Today is the third day of the challenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 12 runners, representing eight provinces, started the 400km Iconic Challenge at Fort Hare University in Alice on Sunday. They are expected to reach their destination (Nelson Mandela Museum at Bhunga Building in Mthatha) on Sunday, July 21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Towns on the route include Fort Beaufort, Whittlesea, Komani, Cofimvaba, Ngcobo, Clarkebury, Baziya, Mqhekezweni, Qunu, and Qokolweni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The grueling 400 km distance over eight days is broken down into seven consecutive 42.2 km distances, and 103 km on day eight, through the route declared by the National Heritage Council as the Eastern Cape Resistance and Liberation Heritage Route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
