Female bikers closed Women\u2019s Month in a different way, by donating sanitary pads to different schools from rural areas in the Eastern Cape, with the aim of showing love and support to learners, last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the members of the female bikers, Kutala Ndzendze, said they are part of Border Kei Bikers (BKB), which includes Bizana, Qumbu, Mthatha, Matatiele, Ngcobo, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs females in the biking industry, we decided that since it was Women\u2019s Month, to buy and distribute sanitary towels to less-privileged schools. The reason which led us to do this was that we also come from poor families, and when we were young, we also used to struggle. We understand what some of the young girls are facing,\u201d said Ndzendze. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group visited eight schools around the Eastern Cape, namely Milton Mbekela Senior Secondary School in Mthatha, All Saints Primary School in Engcobo, Khanya Naledi Senior Secondary School in Matatiele, Dalibaso Senior Secondary School in Mqanduli, Mount Frere Senior Secondary School, Siyakhana Child and Youth Care Centre in Mount Frere, Nolitha Special School in Mount Ayliff, and Ndaliso Senior Secondary School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ndzendze confirmed that this was their first initiative as members of the BKB and that there is still a lot that they will be doing, because they saw a need to do more at the schools they visited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was painful to see some of the learners having torn shoes. If we can get donors there is a lot that we can do, because we want to help even in our communities. We want to make a change where we can,\u201d said Ndzendze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that anyone, even companies who are willing to join the bikers, is welcome to do so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven those who want to be members are also welcomed. There is a lot that we are doing, so those who want to join us are allowed even if they do not have bikes. When we are doing these initiatives, for instance, we need people who can help us, even by [using] vehicles,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
