Artist and graduate of Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in Gqeberha, Azile Ngcwembe (27), is paving his way by using his talent for portraiture while waiting to get a permanent job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngcwembe, who is originally from Nywarha locality in Dutywa, has a bachelor\u2019s degree in information technology which he obtained at NMU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince I am still busy looking for a job, I decided to use my talent so that I can have pocket money. I started to love art while I was still doing my lower grades, so I am using it as my side hustle. What attracted me was that I was good at doing drawings when I was still young. Then in 2019 I started to do portraits,\u201d said Ngcwembe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that he attended an art exhibition event held at Savoy Hotel in Mthatha in June this year and is planning to keep doing exhibitions so that people can see his work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the challenges that we have is that people do not understand the value of art to the extent that they do not understand our prices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think it can help if there can be some programmes where people would be taught about it. I can confirm that art brings a smile to those who understand it. I ask community members to support me in what I am doing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
