Two people died in a head-on collision on the N2 highway between Dutywa and Butterworth on Monday, February 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Transport\u2019s provincial spokesperson, Makhaya Komisa, reported that a VW Polo and a Toyota bakkie were involved in the crash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe driver and passenger in the Polo, a male and a female, both died at the scene. In the bakkie, the female passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The bakkie\u2019s driver sustained minor injuries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Transport and Community Safety MEC, Xolile Nqatha, expressed his condolences to the grieving families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Komisa stated that the department was urging motorists to drive cautiously and reduce speed, as many roads in the province were wet due to recent heavy rains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
