The organiser of the Friends & Lovers Soul Sunday Event, Naledi Ndamase, has confirmed that as part of the buildup to their June Ibuyambo yamaMpondo annual celebration, they have decided to host an event that has never taken place in Libode before. This event will be held at Libode Eco Park on March 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She stated that they believe it will provide opportunities for people to meet new friends, reconnect with old ones, and strengthen relationships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMost importantly, sharing experiences with loved ones can foster emotional support, empathy, and understanding. Additionally, participating in events can help individuals step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and develop new skills. For couples, bonding is important, and shared experiences can create lasting memories, strengthen relationships, and deepen emotional connections,\u201d said Ndamase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that this kind of event facilitates open communication, helping couples and friends better understand each other\u2019s needs, desires, and concerns. Ndamase also stated that it fosters trust, loyalty, and commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCasual gatherings for friends to socialise and promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being, meaning that individuals can strengthen relationships, build connections, and create lasting memories \u2014 ultimately contributing to a more harmonious and supportive community. This is the first event, and if all goes well, we are planning to host it annually.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to her, hosting this kind of event will bring people together, promote local culture and businesses, and create everlasting memories for the people of Libode. Ndamase emphasised that the event will also address several economic and social issues faced by their communities, including the high rates of gender-based violence (GBV) and drug abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe understand the need to boost the economy of our rural town through this event because it will attract visitors, generating revenue for local businesses such as shops and accommodation facilities. We also recognise that, nowadays, many couples are struggling due to the high rate of GBV. It is no secret that our communities are facing this crisis, which is why we have invited stakeholders to raise awareness among couples. Additionally, we have organised a private room for free couples\u2019 therapy sessions.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
